About Us

The Galilee Missionary Baptist Church was organized in the year of 1889 by the late Rev. T. M. Allen, Rev. Rainwaters, Deacon Andy Thorton and others. At that time, the church was located about one mile below the Marietta Campground. After some 15 or 20 years, the church moved to their second facility. That building was built in the early 1920's. In our first 100 years as Galilee Baptist Church, we have experienced many changes, but through our faith in God and His ability to sustain us, we move forward.

Today, under the capable leadership of Rev. Donald B. Crampton, Galilee Missionary Baptist Church will continue to grow and follow God's Word.

MATTHEW 14: 23-33

23 And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there.

24 But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.

25 Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea.

26 And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear.

27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.”

28 And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”

29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.

30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”

31 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”

32 And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.

33 Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God.”

FOCUSED FAITH---KEEPING OUR EYES ON JESUS

HOW MANY TIMES DO WE START STRONG AND FINISH WEAK.  WHEN WE GIVE OUR LIVES TO CHRIST AND WE ARE AS IT WERE ON FIRE FOR THE LORD.

WE ARE RESPONSIVE TO HIS CALL, WE DELIGENT IN OUR MINISTRY AND SERVICE TO HIM,

WE ATTEND WORSHIP, BIBLE STUDY, WE ARE LOOKING TO BE USED BY THE LORD.  WE ARE EAGER TO SAY LORD USE ME. LORD WHAT EVER YOU SAY I AM READY AND ABLE. I AM STEPPING OUT ON FAITH.

EVEN IN OUR EARLY TRIALS WE ARE READY TO RESPOND TO JESUS.  BUT WE KNOW THAT LIFE IF OFTEN LIKE A SEA. IT IS SOMETIMES CALM AND SOMETIMES A LITTLE ROUGH AND THERE ARE THE TIMES OF STORMY SEAS.

THE ENEMY OF OUR FAITH IS CALLED DOUBT.

JAMES 1:6 BUT LET HIM ASK IN FAITH, NOT WAVERING. FOR HE THAT WAVERS IS LIKE A WAVE OF THE SEA DRIVEN WITH THE WIND AND TOSSED.
