About Us

The Galilee Missionary Baptist Church was organized in the year of 1889 by the late Rev. T. M. Allen, Rev. Rainwaters, Deacon Andy Thorton and others. At that time, the church was located about one mile below the Marietta Campground. After some 15 or 20 years, the church moved to their second facility. That building was built in the early 1920's. In our first 100 years as Galilee Baptist Church, we have experienced many changes, but through our faith in God and His ability to sustain us, we move forward.

Today, under the capable leadership of Rev. Donald B. Crampton, Galilee Missionary Baptist Church will continue to grow and follow God's Word.

Deuteronomy 6:6-12

6 “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.

7 You shall teach them diligently to your children and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.

8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.

9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

10 “So it shall be, when the Lord your God brings you into the land of which He swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give you large and beautiful cities which you did not build,

11 houses full of all good things, which you did not fill, hewn-out wells which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant—when you have eaten and are full—

12 then beware, lest you forget the Lord who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

Don’t forget---He has brought us from a mighty long way!!!

This month is designated a Black History month, a time to remember the contributions of people who were brought to this land as slaves yet persevered against what might be seen as insurmountable odds. But God made a way to freedom and for many prosperity

The impact of the contributions was not in selfishness or in a vacuum, but a demonstration what is in us can’t be taken away. The contributions benefit everyone in our nation, from the lawnmower to GPS.

History can be ignored but it cannot be erased. Taking down a statue or removing a plague does not remove the contribution, nor change the circumstances and the course of history. In simpler terms, you cannot undo what God has done through others. In the history of the children of Israel, we are to be reminded how to continue to keep our focus on how God has kept us and is keeping us through their history.

God gives instruction to Isreal through Moses, He says in essence Don’t forget, He gives the method of how Israel can keep their History,  Keep what I have done for you first in your heart, then share what I have put in your heart  with your Children, ask ourselves how far back can I go in my family, how much history do we know of ourselves, why do I not know, it is because no one shared the story, God said tell your children, the effect should be that your children will tell their children, who will tell their children. He expands the method of keeping the legacy alive, write it down, keeping in your house, when lie down remember, when you get up remember.  Yes, don’t forget that God has brought us from a mighty long way.

WE MUST REMEMBER WHERE WE COME FROM IN ORDER

TO REJOICE IN WHERE GOD IS TAKING US
