About Us

The Galilee Missionary Baptist Church was organized in the year of 1889 by the late Rev. T. M. Allen, Rev. Rainwaters, Deacon Andy Thorton and others. At that time, the church was located about one mile below the Marietta Campground. After some 15 or 20 years, the church moved to their second facility. That building was built in the early 1920's. In our first 100 years as Galilee Baptist Church, we have experienced many changes, but through our faith in God and His ability to sustain us, we move forward.

Today, under the capable leadership of Rev. Donald B. Crampton, Galilee Missionary Baptist Church will continue to grow and follow God's Word.

Celebrating Palm Sunday, the celebration of Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem the week before His crucifixion at Calvary.

The promise declared Zechariah 9:9 “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!  Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!

Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation,

Lowly and riding on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey.

The prophecy called God’s Children to rejoice, your King is coming!!

God had declared that he would send His savior, one who would come lowly riding on a donkey

He would not come on a war horse, but on a donkey, He would come in peace and yet He is declaring victory, He is letting the world know the score is already determined.

In John 12:12-16 we see the promised fulfilled, It is first significant to point out that John records the entrance of Jesus in Jerusalem after He had raised Lazarus from the dead, and as a result many those who witnessed the raising of Lazarus they believed on Jesus as Christ and put their faith in Him. Yet the Pharisees began to plot to kill Jesus and to kill Lazarus.

Yet here is Jesus coming to show the world that He will be victorious He decides to ride into Jerusalem, In Luke 19:30 He instructs His disciples go to the village opposite you whereas you enter you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat. Loose it and bring it here.

He was preparing to show the world there is hope:

When they heard Jesus was coming, they took palm branches and went out to meet Him people gathered and cried out “Hosanna!

‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! ‘The King of Israel!”

Hosana---save us, they were crying out for physical salvation from Roman rule and oppression, yet Jesus was bringing much more than what an earthly king and great warrior, he was bringing the pronouncement of victory of the sins of the world, the today the King of Glory is here!! Yes, I am coming in the name of the Lord, because I am the Lord of Lord!

Palms waved and laid to declare victory, It was the symbol of royalty and victory, that the King defeated the enemy and brought joy and peace!!
